Little Things Drive You Nuts

February 19th, 2005 · No Comments

Ever notice how it’s the little things that drive you nuts? While I love my new Mac, I’ve run into a few of those. First is the delete/backspace issue that I mentioned in Adventures In Mac Land. Not only is that annoying, it’s inconsistent. Some applications understand shift-delete as delete, while others just take it as a normal backspace. Another thing that I noticed is moving files around in Finder. I just discovered that they will snap in place if I drag them with command, which is nice. But why can’t I cut and paste files? I can copy and paste them. I can drag them. But I can’t cut them? WHY APPLE. That has been driving me nuts as it’s my preferred way to move files from one folder to another.

On my OpenGL issues, I solved that. It was a subtle bug involving the creation of mipmaps when an image was loaded as RGBA when in reality it was RGB. That was a pain to find. So I’m off programming again. I’ll put some shots up later (now that I figured out how to take screen shots of OpenGL applications).

As this site goes, I thought I would put up a music section too. I’ve got all sorts of CDs and I figure it must be possible to parse the iTunes library and spit out some information on what I like and don’t so people can see if they are interested. I was thinking about this because I just bought two new CDs.
