Google Loves Me!

March 2nd, 2006 · No Comments

Rather by accident yesterday, I discovered Google Sitemaps. Through this, you can analyze what Google searches are bringing people to your pages. It turns out, Google loves me. I’m one of the top hits for “The Restoration Period”, “How Holograms Work”, the number one hit for “Zombie City”, and I show up for quite a few other things too. I had no idea my site was so highly rated for such things.

Especially since most of that is from 2001 when I was still in high-school.

But I’ll take my popularity however I can get it. I made a few cosmetic updates here and there, but nothing really substantial. The fact that I could provide an XML file to Google to help it track my site simply makes me want to improve SiteMaker more. If I rewrite it, I’m not sure what language I’d do it in (fix it in Python? Use Objective-C for the practice? Java for the portability?). My next programming work will probably be for the new POTM contest.
